Door Contacts

Security systems for Self Storage: magnetic door contacts

Many Self Storage locations offer small units of less than 1m3.
For these smaller storage units, where tenants do not enter bodily, SC Solutions has developed Magnetic Door Contacts.

The product explained

Magnetic door contacts are easy to install and add to any SC Access system from SC Solutions.
They also work great in conjunction with Boxwatchers.
All magnetic door contacts come together in our Mux Cabinet.
The Mux cabinet is in a central location in Self Storage.
A Mux can hold up to 64 magnetic door contacts and the number of Muxes can be increased indefinitely.

How do door contacts work

Magnetic door contacts are very simple devices.
One magnet is placed on the door frame and a second magnet is placed on the door. When the door is in a closed position, the magnets will be close together and will “see” each other.
When the magnets see each other, the system knows that the door is closed.
When the door is opened and the magnets no longer see each other, the system knows the door is open.

When a tenant has deactivated her alarm by entering a PIN or offering a proximity tag or using a smartphone, the systems automatically disables the alarm on the storage unit.
When the tenant leaves, the alarm is reactivated.
This can be done manually, timed or automatically.

In addition to magnetic door contacts, we also offer door locks to easily lock units.
These locks work with a padlock, key, or via an app.
